From the very first initial consultation, I knew Beth & Joshua were going to be the most perfect couple for Just Us Weddings. For starters, they’re both active duty officers in the Marine Corps, and at the time, one was stationed in North Carolina, and the other in Florida- all while the wedding was to be in Arkansas, and I was in California. But, this is what the Just Us lives for! We pride ourselves on destination wedding planning, regardless of the location, as well as planning a far from the couple, who are both on very busy, sometimes unpredictable schedules.….
The only thing that Beth cared about from the very beginning, was that she, nor her family, friends, or fiancé, would be stuck doing any kind of work over the wedding weekend. No setup, cleaning up, pickups or deliveries, etc. She wanted every single person in attendance to truly be able to relax and celebrate her and Joshua all weekend, and thats just what they got!
Before Just Us was hired, Beth & Joshua secured the Horsehead Lake Lodge & Event Center in Clarksville, Arkansas as their venue. Not only has it’s owner built two incredibly beautiful event spaces onsite, but he also has numerous lodging accommodations that can be added for the festivities, so that couple and their guests can have a true weekend of celebration together.
Once Just Us was brought on, I went right into their design. Beth had always loved the idea of the color burgundy for her wedding, in addition to lots of lavish greens, but wanted nothing, in anyway that could resemble the holiday season – as their wedding was October 8th.

Come wedding weekend, we kicked things off with their ceremony rehearsal, followed by their rehearsal dinner and welcome party. The Horsehead Lake Lodge & Event Center has this beautiful courtyard between the two venue spaces overlooking the Ozark mountains with picnic tables and cafe lighting, and was the perfect setting for their casual bbq rehearsal dinner and welcome bonfire.
Next up, wedding day! Beth and her party started the morning off with Lavonne Beauty for hair and makeup at one of the lodges on property. Soon enough the Just Us Weddings team arrived to begin our setup, in addition to Eventology (suppling ceremony and reception chairs, a few easels, a cake stand, some lighting, and linens for our catering & bar vendor), as well as Pigmint Flowers & Gifts (our florist).
A few hours into setup, Alyssa Simpson Photography arrived and began shooting Beth & Joshua’s detail photos; consisting of their invitation suite, rings, attire, accessories, and a handful of personalized items.
With the help of her mom, Beth put on her stunning gown, had her first look with her stepfather, then her wedding party, and from there Alyssa captured some adorable moments of the the whole group all together.
Once the Beth & her party had some time in front of the lens, it was Joshua & his party’s turn! They also got ready at one of the lodge’s on property, and took their group photos around the venue, with breathtaking views of the Ozark’s as their backdrop.

Before too long, it was time to get these two married! Brock Entertainment set the tone with Joy of my Life by Chris Stapleton for the family and wedding party processional, followed by the classic, At Last by Etta James for Beth and her stepfather. After a beautiful ceremony led by Joshua’s childhood pastor, Pastor Doug Fulton, these two were announced as husband & wife!
Cocktail hour was held on the courtyard between the ceremony and reception location (the same courtyard as their rehearsal dinner and welcome party), with drinks and hors d’oeuvres supplied by Dover Market Catering. While guests enjoyed the crisp fall air and played lawn games, Beth & Joshua finished taking their wedding party & family portraits, as well as a some final sunset of just the two of them.

The reception kicked off with the couples grand entrance that led right into their first dance. Following such, Dover Market Catering served dinner buffet-style; Beth & Josh cut their cake, they danced with their parents, and then these two love birds along with their guests, truly danced the night away!
Now that planning has concluded and these two are married, I couldn’t have been happier to be along their planning journey, but to also get to know both of these beautiful humans. As always, we thank them for their service to our country, and cannot wait to continue watching their marriage grow from here!
– Love the Just Us Weddings Team
